Article I. Name and Location

Section 1. Name and Definition

The name of the organization shall be the Southwest US Region, American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), hereinafter in these Bylaws called the Region. It is an administrative sub-element of ASPRS, which is a non-stock and non-profit corporation formed under the provisions of Chapter 2, Title 13.1, of the Code of Virginia and hereinafter in these Bylaws called the Society. Furthermore, the Region is affiliated with the Society, is subject to general supervision by the Society, is eligible to qualify for group exemption under section 501c(3) and meets the same tax-exempt requirements of the Society, uses the same fiscal year as the Society (ending December 31), is not a private foundation, and has adopted and filed articles of incorporation with the state of Virginia.

Section 2. Location and Office

The boundaries of the Region, established in accordance with the Society Bylaws, shall include Southern California (including the counties of Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura), Southern Nevada (including the counties of Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Nye and White Pine), and the entire state of Arizona.

The office of the Region shall be located at the location of the Treasurer.
